—Most Popular & Trending— Cabinet Colors

We may have mis-interpreted the word Top Cabinet Color in last week’s Q&A to mean Upper Cabinet color. Oops! So let’s revisit this question as—

Q: What are the Most Popular Cabinet Colors?  And what Cabinet colors are trending?

A: Grays, Blues and Greens are quite 'popular', but what is most 'on-trend' are the Green shades according to Crystal Color Concepts (as shown on the photo above).

Trending Colors:

  • Parlor Green

  • Smoky Green

  • Pacific Teal

  • Baltic Blue

White Oak, a New Trend?

For Wood species, White Oak, is gaining popularity. Why? Here’s 4 reasons:

DURABIILITY—

one of the most durable of the hardwoods, and makes a great choice for high-trafficked kitchens.

NATURAL GRAIN PATTERNS—

When White Oak is ‘quarter sawn’ (a more quality cut), it changes the look of Oak (from cathedral grain patterns to straight grain) The straight grain has a medium to coarse texture. More evenly spaced pores than plain sawn red oak, revealing the woods rays as a fleck pattern across the grain.

ON-TREND COLORS—

Red Oak had more caramel and red tones, which is not in style anymore. White Oak, like it’s name, it lighter in color but varies from whitish light brown in color to grayish dark brown and the heartwood is light to dark brown. White Oak is in line with today’s neutral palates. They are great to offset/contrast flooring, counters, & backsplashes.

TEXTURES & STAINS—

Natural White Oak has a fresh look for modern kitchens and can be used to replace white-painted cabinets to add some warmth, texture and character. White Oak can be combined with a contrasting, fun statement backsplash or a contrasting island. Many types of stains can be applied to give white oak a more tailored appearance and can emphasize the natural beauty of it’s detailed wood grains.
